Why upstairs laundries in San Antonio need a booster fan

The cause is geometry. Two-story homes built in the 1990s and newer often put the laundry upstairs. The duct then climbs through a wall. It crosses attic framing and exits a roof jack. Add the elbows and that run passes the 25-foot equivalent limit most dryer manufacturers set. Elbows eat into that budget fast. The dryer's own blower was never sized for it. Towels take two and three cycles in August humidity. The laundry room runs hotter than the rest of the house.
